Reflecting...

Well, all that has to be said, has been said. Life goes on, you know? Anyway, I had a really great experience through the days. (: Will never forget the days. And oh yes, I still have yet to submit the Journal, but I will!

Everyone, REMEMBER TO SUBMIT!

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Oh to hold you.

Well, it's been a really trying time for everyone, and all of the fruits have been rewarding.

I feel very proud of everyone for having pulled through this major project. I am very impressed by a lot of the work. And I'm sure that if everyone works together, we can produce something even greater and more impressive. The talent, the hard work, the effort; it has all been rewarding and we can feel it.

To the last day, Snap has been together, even though we have been unhappy at one time or another. But still, we are a team. We have helped each other grow. And I'm so glad that this has all ended.

Thank you to everyone who helped in making this project successful. Mal loves you! :D

And... CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERY MOI YEAR 1. WE'RE DONE WITH PROJECT 1!!!

Time we've spent together.

We are totally done with everything. We just came to school to get everything on tape and decide on our outfits for tomorrow's presentation. WOO.

Somehow things look better on camera than on the computer. Why?!

Anywayyyy, we're finally through it all. I'm very sorry if I've ever offended anyone with my blog, especially my team mates, if I have ever wrongly accused you.

We've finally made it through, year ones, and I'm proud of everyone who has stuck it out. CONGRATULATIONS! WE'RE ALMOST DONE.

Monday, March 17, 2008

Yawwwn

Hmmm. Nothing much to do today ehhh. We just basically RENDERED today. Really really. We didn't do anything... =L Decided to get it on tape tomorrow instead cause we didn't get the camera, and the school's computer was rendering REALLY slowly.

MMM.

At times I do feel that my efforts go unappreciated. Maybe it's because I'm the youngest? Gee. I did try to do subtitles before Wahidah came to view the final video...

I did the subtitles for about half an hour before our very late leader came and said that the subtitles I did was all wrong. -.- Okay, I know I didn't put them into the safe box, because first of all, that's my first time doing subtitles. Grrr. And then, because I felt that the font colour of white would be difficult to see if the video had a similar colpur, so I put in some shadow. Then he came and said no. Got rid of it. Never mind. Learnt to deal with this kinda people. They think they're all that. So I guess I just let him do it.

After Wahdidah viewed the final product, I asked her if it was okay to put a shadow for our subtitles. She said it was okay. So there were some things to work out. Tri and Rachael had things to do so they went off first. So, through my seething anger, I kept it all down and worked with Lionel to improve the video... I guess we managed to work the video out... I think he felt kind of apologetic towards me, and took my advice into mind. I'm glad. I'm not angry anymore! Have you ever seen Mal angry for more than a day? Haaah.

Well... YAY.

SNAP ROCKS.

Met up today at 10pm~

Did work again! This time, we were able to compile our work together!!! Animations are all in, we edited the video more, we did the audio, we animated more... WE DID A LOT TODAY AND WE ARE ALMOST DONE!

I feel so awesome. I wrote down the subtitles that we will put into our video tomorrow, and I hoped with the animation of the Photograph Fundamentals and 3D Art Fundamentals showreel... :D Ooh yeah, the background I used for the previous presentation was used for the showreel. YAY! Credits to xoospace.com :)

We will meet tomorrow at 11am to do the final touches, such as the audio and subtitling!

I almost forgot that tomorrow is a Thursday... Meaning, we are ahead of schedule! This is totally awesome.

I'm really glad that I have such willing, initiative and experienced group mates. LOVE IT MAN. KISSES FOR THE DUDE AND DUDETTE.

:) I hope that our video will be good enough!!! All our hardwork should pay off and not go down the drain. I'm excited and nervous!!! =DDD I LOVE SNAP!

Hot shizzle~

:D Came to school at 9am! Edited! But encountered some problems with putting our work together. Some stupid error. Tri said she'd go home to re-render it for tomorrow...

I was doing the powerpoint presentation slides over the weekend... And it's so pretty! =D

Anyway, during the presentation, we showed our work which was still in bits and pieces to the class. The feedback was constructive and we can make use of the criticism to improve our work! So tomorrow we shall put everything together into a single clip! =D

We've learnt our lesson to always be prepared for equipment failures~ Woo! So excited to finish all this work!

The work that everyone has done has been significant and nobody has been left out... Even though we might have some unhappiness with each other at certain times, we are quite content now. All is forgiven! However, I do feel that it is important to state down our true feelings about each group member for the peer assessment... I do hope that my comments don't affect anyone in the group too adversely!

Anyway, I'll be seeing them tomorrow to compile everything when there are no errors! LOVES.

Thursday, March 6, 2008

We are editing, again!

Editing's fun, really.

But anyway, we have finalized the real deal. As in we have decided on the organization of work to be shown in the video. And the work is going to be split up equally!

Tri will be doing (new)animation for:
- The Interview questions
- The animation showreel
- Footsteps
- I can't remember

Rachael:
- ANIMATION FOR ALL MODULES ( a lot man)

Lionel:
- Video editing

Me:
- Video editing
- Subtitling

WORK WORK WORK. Tomorrow we aren't coming to school, just so that we can do our work. Will be seeing ma darlings next week! =DDD YAYS. All anger... BE GONE!

Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Change is the only constant in life.

Hmmm. So we've finally decided what to change. We are going to combine our Showreel and the Interview parts together! Why did we decide on this? We encountered some problems, that's why!

Problems:
- Interview was long and draggy
- Showreel would be boring
- The boring parts would bring the video down

Solution!!! (YAY)

We decided to combine both things together so that they will be able to compliment each other!!! =DDD

Okay so we've got quite a bit of work to be done from now till next week. Ayyye! GOGO SNAP.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

FEVER BUG

Tri is down with a fever! NOOO. GET WELL SOOON!

Anyway, I went to school and waited for Lionel. Then we waited for Wahidah and told her the latest happenings for our video.

The only other thing we did today was compile our work. I'd just dumped my Video Fundamentals video into my thumbdrivvvvvve. Wee! Okay. othing else to say. ._. BYE!

Monday, March 3, 2008

SORRY!

Sorry to SNAP for not being able to make it down for the meeting. I was at a Pre-U seminar meeting. Sorry guys... ):

But the latest update is that we are going to change the showreel part. We are really changing and developing new ideas now. :D Different, but better. :) Sorry again guys!

Thursday, February 28, 2008

NICE.

Okay. I'm really not happy with the punctuality. I can be early, so can you. Period.

But other than that, we had a successful filming session today. We filmed our interview all over again and fixed the problems that were identified yesterday... Retro clothes were present. And we definitely did our best to be funny and enthusiastic. Hehhh.

Okay. So we're totally scrapping the idea of the reverse handwriting credits things. Haahhh. We're going to animate it instead. Good. Never did like the idea of the reverse thing. Lol.

WEEKEND. I LOVE WEEKENDS.

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Die!!!

Shucks! Tri showed our interview video to some of our other coursemates yesterday. Turns out that our video came across as weird, and did not portray the message appropriately.

Also showed it to Wahidah. Gotta work on some of the stuff...:
  • Colour combination
  • Outfits (retro!)
  • Composition
  • Attitude/Enthusiasm
Ahhh! So we've got to re-shoot... Extend our camera loan as well. Oh wellllll. Re-do it shall be. We've no other options... Tomorrow... Will... Be a better... Day...

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

Yay!

I really mean yay! Cause we've just filmed the interview part of our video. It's also the most difficult part of our video actually, because we did not have the privilege of help from other people. Man. But it's alright, actually. Because we figured that we could cut the actual video into parts and take out the unnecessary parts.

We actually made a big boo-boo when we did the credits for our video. We overwrote the scene of the Design school. But that's okay. We re-did that part. So what is left for us to do?

Video:
  • Editing

Animation:

  • Animation showreel start

Showreel:

  • Compiling our work into a video

Monday, February 25, 2008

OOOright.

We got out of class today for filming. Weather wasn't so fantastic so we ended up doing more video editing.

Submitted the printout of this journal. Hmmm. Will film the actual thing tomorrow. Yay!

Sleep.

Friday, February 22, 2008

More filming!

As the title suggests, Snap did more filming today. We did the filming for the credits. We're like left with just the interview thing. Bahhh.

We've returned our camera and tripod already. Will rent out another one next week so we can transfer the recorded stuff onto the school computer for editing. Yay!

After we're done with all this, it's SHOWREEL time.

Happy Birthday to Mal! :D on 24th of Feb!

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Presentation 2...

Yeah! Presentation 2. I think Snap did a pretty good job. Critique from others taken note of. Will work on the boo-boos and show it to other people outside of our class including lecturers. :D Good job so far guys! Weee!

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Fun at Design Ramp

Hehe. Did something kinda unethical today. But we had no choice! We wanted to do some filming in Design school. But we had no trolley to film! So I ended up pushing Lionel around on a roller chair. Hurhur. But isn't something wrong here? Haha. I'm the lady pushing Lionel around!!! But never mind! That's fine. I'm TOUGH.

We're getting along pretty well, in my opinion. Cause now we're done with our introduction! And it's all goooood. (: But we defnitely have more work to dooo!

Presentation tomorrow. EEK.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Editing already!

Hah. I'm the most forgetful walking piece of flesh. Brought ALL the things we needed today except for the tripod stand. -_-! Thankfully could borrow it from another group. But. We didn't film anything today in the end.

We went to the 2D lab to do our video editing. Hmmm. Got to re-think our audio choices to make it suit the videooo. Alright.

Showreel. Argh. Have to do that in school. Compiled everything already. Just got to get my work from Video Fundamentals. Julian needs to know the class I was in for Video Fundamentals. BUT HOW THE HELL CAN I REMEMBER? Urgh. Right. WHO IN MY VIDEO FUND CLASS HAS THE TIMETABLE?

Monday, February 18, 2008

First day filming

Turns out I was supposed to do the Script up. Shit. I didn't do it. Urgh. So sorry to Snap. ):

Anyway, Have compiled what I'm going to put in for my showreel over the weekend. Now it's just that I have no idea how I'm supposed to install premiere. Uhhh, help?

Went to Youth Park today for filming. It was crazy hot out there. >.< I hope the take was good today. Cause I think I'll roast if we go there again!

Anyway, I got asked by group members to approach some of the skaters there today for a favour. We got some footage of the skaters doing simple skateboarding tricks. Hahah. We filmmakers have to have thick skin, I figured, to approach people to ask for things. Hmmm. But! One of the skaters(not local) was really nice and let us film him! His name is James. So we'll credit him of course.

Lionel's girlfriend is sooo sweet! She came down to help us film! Is that sweeet or what? Thanks Juliana! Sweetest ever. :D

Overall productive day. Though will have to submit script tomorrow due to my booboo.

Have yet to0 retrieve clapper from my cousin. He's gonna deliver it at what, 12am? Bahh. The lengths I go for film.

TOMORROW IS DAY 2 OF FILMING. YAY.

Friday, February 15, 2008

MMMkay.

Last day of the week! Okay. Hm. Went to school and mainly went over the mistakes we made in our scripty thingy.

Tri's gonna re-do it~ (:

Wrote letter to Wahidah concerning our whereabouts for next week. Got approved. YAY! Weekend...

Thursday, February 14, 2008

ANIMATE ANIMATE.

Yeah, okay, so we animated. Errr. I don't feel that there's much to say about it except that we have a lot more to do and we can do it together! As a TEAM. Yeh. WOO.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

...

What the hell! No cameras for loan! That sucks a LOT. Whatever. Urgh.

Anyway, went to class. Discussed how to make filming not confusing yaddah yaddaaahh. -_-

Label tapes blah blah blah.

Just a bad day for project 1 okay? 'Nuff said.

Animate tomorrow. Bye.

RECCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEE.

Went out of class today to do our recce-ing of location~ Reached there at about 12.30 and met with Lionel. Tri could not come because she was at Changi Hospital attending to some family matters. (don't worry about it Tri!)

I accidentally led Lionel to the wrong place. We were supposed to go to the skate park which is beside Cineleisure, but I ended up thinking it was somewhere near Takashimaya. Then led Lionel all the way there for naught! SOOOO sorry! ):

But, yah, met with Rachael at the skate park after walking around under the mercilessly hot sun! Recced the location and took note of potential spots to shoot at. (:

Got to work on the storyboard again cause we have the do the two column thingy over again. Man. But anyway, looks like we've got a bit more time for production!!! Yaaay! Thankies to the lecturers for being merciful.

Butttt, how come the year one batch of MOI students from last year only had to organize the Open House for their Year One project? Why so different? It's kinda... Weird and maybe a bit unfair?

BACK FROM THE DEAD

I seemingly disappeared over the weekend RIGHT? Well, I didn't. So here's the hottest stuff right now in Snap. ( CNY was good by the way.)

So now we have more or less confirmed our storyboard which Tri will be updating.

I've just typed out our letter for filming and sent it to Wahidah. Yay me! Anyway, Wahidah's approved of our group's plan and so YAY! Tomorrow we're going to recce the place.

Happy happy. Came up with a few ideas for the group's song choices. For myself, I want to use the song Public Affair by Jessica Simpson. It's a cheerful song and it has a kind of retro feel to it. The song also suits my personality. I think I'm jyst a typical girl and this song is very GIRLY. Woo! GO ME!

Anyway, Snap is getting along well, for now. But I can foresee that I might break under pressure. Snap had planned too far ahead and did not realize that we were having our interim assessment next Thursday! Which means we have to get 70% of our work done by then! WHICH ALSO MEANS WE HAVE TO QUICKLY ANIMATE, FILM AND COLLATE OUR WORK. THIS IS CRAZY! AHHH!

BUT! With a lot of support from Snap, I guess I will pull through. I'm very committed to my school stuff. I'm not only involved in normal school work. I'm also in the Pre-U Seminar, DOC Main Committee and also a Head GL for FOC. I will have to struggle to juggle(RHYME!) all of these things!

MAL JIA YOU!

Before Chinese New Year... WOO!!!

We had our PRESENTATION ONE today! Woo!

But I was really late for rehearsals! I think I stayed up till too late last night. Shucks. ): Ended up waking up at 10.30 when Rach called to ask where I was. Was cussing under my breath. Then decided on taking a cab to get to school faster. More cussing ensued as I waiting 15 minutes to get a cab.

But thank God that the other maps are independent and already knew what to say for presentation. (: Snap did a good job today!

After presentation, we decided what to do during the long break. Decided to take it easy for this weekend, cause after this, it's CRUNCH time. So this would be our last holiday of enjoyment. Grrr.

Okay so here's a list of what's to be done!

Music
Confirm our music and make sure the music isn't towards the heavy side.

Animation
Stage animation: Rach
Snap logo: Tri
Beatbox background: Tri
Blue screen: Lionel and Mal

  3. Tripod
  4. Boom Mic.
Okay, with that done, I WANNA WISH EVERYONE IN SNAP AND EVERYONE WHO IS READING THIS A HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Monday, February 4, 2008

Hello again...

I actually forgot to blog yesterday yeah. But I did up the the script for everyone yesterday. The script is for tomorrow presentation.

Snap met up in class again today to discuss our slide again. We added in a few more things:
  • Correcting grammatical errors
  • Roles
I think it was necessary to add in our production roles to the slide so that everyone will know what each member is doing. Anyway, besides doing that, we also split up the script into parts so each person would have a fair amount to say. Everyone in the group should be given a chance to speak for the presentation.

Then we decided to go home to practice our scripts on our own and get it written on cue cards or something like that and come back the next morning to rehearse.

Okay, so that was the end of our discussion. Weren't allowed off at 1.30pm. :L Okaaaay. Fine. Continued to sit down to listen to potential soundtracks for our video. Did that until about 2.20pm and began to start STONING. How productive right?

I mean, we already have everything discussed... No point staying on if all we're going to do is stare blankly into space...

I saw other class people happily walking by...

...

Last day of the week...

Yeap, it's the last day of the week at last man. I'm so glad. Cause today I'll be having a camp!

Anyway, the group met up earlier in the day to finalize our powerpoint slide, and what we were going to present. Nothing further was discussed today as we have more or less settled all that, bubt all that is left is executing our work.

More work has to be done over the weekend. I have to work on a script for the members of Snap, so that we can present better on Tuesday. We plan to rehearse our lines together with the powerpoint on Monday. Tri will be working on the powerpoint and then she will send it to all of us in the group.

More Videos...?

Okaaaaay, right. We watched more videos today. Okay. Right.

After that very unnecessary video session, Snap got down to further discussions about the video. We discussed our video in a lot more detail and came up with our rough storyboard.

The video would start out with an old fashioned countdown from 5. From there, our group name would appear! We will be having the beat boxing audio from there. Then our group name would go away and the intro would begin. After our fun intro, each member will take a turn at talking. During our dialogue, we want to play some funky music to add to the spontaneity. After everyone's turn is over, we will end the video fast doing a very fast rewind of what was covered, and then we do our credits.

During the credits, we want to add in some of our NGs!

We have also covered some of the items that we can include to make our video more related to our theme. We also decided on the genre of music that we should try to get for the video. We agreed that to suit our theme, we would try to get songs from the 90's as it was a very fun era!

More importantly, we managed to lay down all the important tasks to be done.

VIDEO:
  • Recce of location
  • Access to location
  • Rental
  • Equipment loaning
  • Filming
ANIMATION:
  • Logo
  • Speakers background
  • Availability of blue screen
MUSIC:
  • Everyone to find appropriate music.
  • Beatbox
  • Ending: older songs
CLOTHING:
  • Vibrant
  • Casual formal
  • 1 set of clothings throughout filming
So going home today, we have to determine and finalize what we want to showcase on our video.

Today was a really great day for Snap and we have finally decided on the tasks and can come up with a properly timeline. Coming up with this timeline will greatly aid the group. It will definitely keep us on track and allows us to keep track of how much time we have.

We'll be preparing for our first presentation on Friday. Hopefully we come up with something solid!!! WE ROCK.

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Snoozer.

Today was reallllllllllly really boring and unproductive. Why?

We sat in the LT today for most of the three hours. Doing? Watching video clips to clarify what kind of work we can produce.

Right. Anyway, since we did that, groups had no time to sit down together to discuss BECAUSSSSE, some of us have 3pm class.

OKAY NEVER MIND. Snap has managed to come up with our group logo for our intro. It looks really good and innovative! Tri's and Lionel's input. (: Rachael and I gave our feedback.

Then our awesome and (very x infinity) hardworking Tri sent us a draft version of our powerpoint slides. She put in the headings for each slide already. This really made our workload easier! Now we just have to discuss what to be included for each slide! Thanks a load Tri. (:

On my part, I'm trying to get my friend to do the beat box recording by the end of the week. I think he needs to be pushed a little more.

Snap is sooooo effecient. (: I feel happy to be the dongseng(junior in Korean) of the group as the older members have so much experience and I can learn from them. I also try my best to contribute and give constructive feedback. HEEE. (:

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Oh man... ):

I feel really bad today. Don't understand why I wasn't in a good mood today. I'm like normal happy and crazy. But today I was half dead. Sorry to my team! ): I think it was because of my bad start of the day.

Bad, because I'd discovered that I entered the wrong email address for the account with the correct URL.

Now I can't use the same URL for the account with the correct email. Oh well. Thank God Wahidah said it was alright. =D

We viewed our peer's blogs. Some of the blogs were brief while some were more detailed. My inference from this is that some people don't want to reveal too much about their ongoing work while others are more open about it. I would prefer to be more open rather than hiding my work. At least people know what our progress is right? Come on guys, don't hide your work okay~ I wanna -kaypoh- but I definitely won't copy! So smile! And do this blog thing! We can SOOO do it. *Gets bimbotic*

The purpose of today's lesson was to pinpoint the keypoint of our video. So everyone settled down to discuss with their groups, and this was what Snap came up with:
  • 1. How fun and exciting TDS's MOI is.
  • 2. How we progress from before when we knew nothing.
  • 3. Learning from others and learning to work with them.
To further elaborate, number one is showcased through our work and our video concept/theme. Since our theme is about being Hip, the audience should be able tell that MOI is exciting.

Number two is showing how much we've learnt, seeing how when we came into TDS, we knew absolutely nothing. But at the current stage that we are at, we have been enriched with so much more skills and knowledge. We will tell this to the audience throw the show reel of our individual work.

And the last point is shown to the audience through our team work. We feel that it is very important for designers to work with one another. Not only to be friends, but also to learn from each other's different experiences.

Through all this, we hope to appeal to future designers. Hopefully, this video will be able to draw in talented individuals.

After this was discussed, Snap got together and discussed about our theme again. With further debate, we decided that Graffiti was very cliche and boring. Thus, we decided to mix this theme with an equal amount of Retro and Colourful. Thus,

  • Plan A is to do: Graffiti + Retro + Colourful
  • Plan B is to do : Graffiti only.
Showreel was also one of the things we talked about.

  • Figured out what kind of border we want—a clothesline with stills of our work.
  • The background is the sky.
  • The bottom will be a brick wall so that we can put the name of our work.
  • The different work will “flash” by.
  • Must figure out how to use more colours
However, I don't think what we have discussed today is enough, so we have to brainstorm more, and also develop new ideas through mind-mapping and things like that.

I'm quite anxious about the soundtrack. I have to get some of my friends to help me with Beat boxing! This has to be done quickly as our video relies also on our soundtrack.

As for the group, we have to figure out how to integrate the three themes (Colourful, Graffiti and Retro) together and make it look like a great fusion to appeal to our audience.

I think that today, Snap has managed to find out some of the problems that we might face. This is good as we can now look out for any mistakes. Keep it up guys!

SPAZZ
I THINK HOR. OUR GROUP, GETTING ALONG BETTER AND BETTER. YAY. *WIGGLES*

...Ahem.

P.s. Sorry Tri! I'm always kicking your leg! D':

LOVES.

First Day!!!

Gathered outside LT25 for a good 15 minutes and finally went in.

Alan started the briefing after 10 minutes of waiting. Some people were late though. Tsk tsk.

Alan covered the important point of Project 1, such as deadlines and requirements. It was all quite confusing at first, but we managed to get through it.

I'm in T03 for this block. I'm really eager to start the project because of the people I will be working with! I decided that I did not want to be in the same group as my good friends as I also want to work with other people. Moreover, being such good friends, we might not keep each other in check and our work might be lacking.

I am now in the same group as Lionel, Rachael and Tri! Lionel and I intend to major in Video whilst Tri and Rachael choose to specialize in animation. This is a good mix for the group as we can have variation in our project.

First of all, we established our Group Name. We had a few ideas at first:
  • Bling Bling
  • Beatbox
  • Snap

We decided at last on the name Snap. We even came up with a Slogan: It’s done in a Snap! This is to show our efficiency in work! We have also established our different positions in the group!
  • Group Leader: Lionel
  • Secretary: Tri
  • Scribe: Mallory
  • Planner: Rachael

We then began to conceptualize for our project. The style for our project was to have a very youthful style in our video. Things like graffiti, street style and beat boxing popped into our minds while brainstorming. We thought of all these things as it appeals to the younger audience and is considered "hip" and "cool".

Snap also thought of some of the work from the modules we had previously taken to be chosen for the video. Some of the modules are:
  • Drawing Essentials
  • 2D Art Fundamentals
  • 3D Art Fundamentals
  • Photography
  • Ideation etc.
Moving on, we put our heads together to figure out what we wanted to achieve by the first presentation. We had to figure out our:
  • Audience
  • Individual work to be in the video
  • Concept/ Design
  • Audio
  • Software to be used: - Flash, After Effects etc.
  • Equipment

Reflection for today? I think that our group is getting along pretty well. We have our individual roles set aside and that is a good thing as we have work split up amongst us now. I hope that we will be able to meet each other's expectations!
